Practicing Resurrection II
This picture is part of a series of six-word stories that capture Wendell Berry’s provocative idea of “practicing resurrection.”
In late April the pathway around a lake near my house flooded. The walkway and surrounding fields were inundated by two days of torrential rains. Nearly every living thing was underwater.
In late June my daughter and I took a walk down to the lake. The path was dry and the plants were bursting with life and bloom. A butterfly greeted us and drank from the nectar of a flower. Nature and life were practicing resurrection.
