Lenten Lights H ~ Honeycomb

Honeycomb

Spring is not waiting for the calendar. Today the earth is awake with divine glory. Bees are buzzing. Hives are waking up after a long cold winter. Trees and flowers are opening their buds. Queen bees arrive by mail. Wild swarms take off in search of new places to live. The work of pollination and creation is underway.

I captured this light streaming through the honeycomb late last summer. The image carries in it innumerable hours, days, and months of work and life. Literally generations of bees transported nectar and pollen to the hive, tended eggs, and gave their lives to produce this beauty, this sweetness. This Lenten day, slow down to see and give thanks for the fullness of the cycles of life.
